Setting boundaries on social media is crucial, especially if you are an entrepreneur. This episode I talk about boundaries with potential and current clients to help you avoid burnout and create healthy client relationships.
Let’s start with potential clients, I highly suggest providing some free advice but then direct them to your resources. This could be having them opt-in to your freebie or join your email list, etc. I share my own personal experience in this episode on why giving too much free advice often will land you in the “friend zone.”
Setting boundaries with your current clients is equally as important. Communicating how you conduct business and the proper way to communicate during your time working together is key. I always encourage everyone to have business conversations on a specific platform, such as Voxer. Setting the expectation ahead of time will avoid confusion in the long run and set you and your client up for success.
Last, you have to set boundaries with yourself when it comes to social media. I suggest following accounts that bring you joy (doesn’t always have to be business related) and mute the ones that trigger you in a negative way. I am a huge advocate for taking breaks from social media when you feel the need to, set specific days off and using apps, like Opal, to manage your screen time effectively. The ultimate goal here is to stop the mindless scrolling and breaking those negative habits!
